For Jacobsen Construction, building better communities begins with a belief in craftsmanship, shared purpose, and lasting foundations. Its headquarters brings those values to life through sculptural installations, materials reclaimed from construction, and tributes to the company's heritage and people. The result is an environment that makes Jacobsen's legacy tangible—and reflects the values its employees carry into every project.

A Monolith of a Company: Building Better Communities

Jacobsen Construction is a respected, century-old company with deep roots in the Intermountain West. Working alongside the company, we helped bring its transformative rebrand to life. Rooted in tradition while embracing modernity, the rebrand centered on the principles of “Built to Last” and “Building Communities.”

With a forward-looking approach, Jacobsen continues to integrate best-in-class standards into its processes, reinforcing its commitment to quality and longevity. Its focus on sustainability and community development signals a new era of building strong, enduring communities. This rebrand represents more than a change in appearance; it marks a bold step toward the future of construction.

Greeting Our Customers with Strength and Confidence

We played a pivotal role in the rebrand and interior design of key elements within Jacobsen's newly designed headquarters. Drawing on the collective strength of its approximately 1,000 employees, the company's values were woven into the environment's design.

Interior branding emphasized the importance of unity in building not only structures but also a culture of innovation and excellence. Together, these elements reflect Jacobsen's commitment to enduring quality, strong communities, and continuous advancement.

Defined by Our Work Ethic and Vision

Each common area within the building was designed around a narrative connected to Jacobsen's work and expertise.

One example celebrates the company's involvement in more than 50 religious structures around the world. In a main conference room adjacent to the lobby, a six-by-five-foot copper-rod sculpture represents the importance of creating sacred spaces. Its form invites viewers to look upward and through an archway, reflecting the inspiration and purpose these structures can embody. This conceptual approach reflects Jacobsen's commitment to building communities that endure for generations and beyond. As an employee-owned company (ESOP), Jacobsen also recognizes the essential role its employees play in protecting and carrying forward its values.

The Origins of Hard Work and a Foundation That Lasts

Rooted in its Norwegian heritage, Jacobsen Construction honors its origins through two striking installations in the main lobby.

A bench crafted from birch wood evokes the form of a boat, reflecting the company's heritage of craftsmanship and seafaring tradition. Suspended above it, a sculpture depicts layers of sediment, symbolizing the importance of building a strong foundation. Repurposed concrete forms originally used in scaffolding reinforce the company's commitment to sustainability.

Quotes from owners and former CEOs, carved into repurposed wood, further enrich the space, honoring the legacy and wisdom that continue to guide Jacobsen forward.

Building Communities That Last

Adjacent to the main lobby, a vibrant dining and common area showcases innovative features that reflect Jacobsen Construction's spirit and values. An interactive digital display curates social media posts, fostering connection across the company.

At the center of the space, a 16-by-18-foot wall sculpture pays homage to Salt Lake City, where the company was founded. Crafted from repurposed concrete formwork used across a decade of construction, the sculpture depicts the city's skyline through more than 500 vertically arranged wood slats. Layered in five earthy hues, the installation celebrates the city's energy while serving as a testament to Jacobsen's enduring legacy and commitment to craftsmanship.
